PIANO DE "PAPERBACK WRITER" À VENDA

The piano on which the Beatles recorded “Paperback Writer” in London's Abbey Road studio is heading to the auction block.

Carrying a high-estimate of $152,168, the piano was used by a host of other musicians including Pink Floyd and it bears the marks to prove it. It's covered in scratches, cigarette burns and coffee stains - but that just adds to its historic appeal.

"I think it is the first instrument from the Abbey Road Studios to come on the open market," revealed Stephen Maycock, the consultant specialist for Beatles memorabilia at Bonhams auction house.

Retired from professional use in the 80s, it will be sold on August 15 at the Vintage Goodwood festival in West Sussex, southeast England.
